Observing the way cyclists flout every traffic rule – with the possible exception of speeding – one would think they were subject to their own set of traffic laws, or perhaps to no rules at all. Has anyone ever seen a cyclist stop at a red light and wait for the green when there was no traffic in the other direction? Do cyclists even slow down for stop signs if the can see there is no crossing traffic?
In fact, the Highway Safety Code applies fully to bicycle traffic; and yet who has ever observed a cyclist getting a ticket for violating the rules of the road?
What can be done to encourage a few police operations to set an example and generate some ticket revenue from a source other than long suffering motorists?
